Alicia Alonso, Ph.D., MSc, is Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology Research in Medicine, and Scientific Director, Epigenetics Core, at the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Department of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Alonso is Director of Innovation at the Englander Institute for Precision Medicine.
Dr. Alonso is a Molecular Biologist with multi-faceted background encompassing genetics, epigenetics, and cell biology. Her work at The Epigenomics Core at Weill Cornell Medicine provides scientific support for researchers working on epigenetic and epigenomics.
She earned her M.Sc at the University of Chile and her Ph.D. in molecular biology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Alonso was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Centre for HIV Research before becoming an Instructor and Research Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.  Dr. Alonso has co-authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications.
