On July 2nd OncoDaily published Director Olivier Elemento's summary of his recent Science Advances paper, "Patient-Derived Tumor Organoids Across Cancers Reveal Drug Response and Tumor Fidelity."

The July 15th article "Can Ampyrone Help Treat Hypopigmentation?" from The Dermatology Digest reported on a recent study published in JCI Insight by Jonathan Zippin, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Dermatology at Weill Cornell Medicine and a Member of the EIPM. The WCM Newsroom also covered this new paper. 

Dr. Eleni Andreopoulou became the first woman to earn an Honorary Professor of Medicine awardfrom the University of Ioannina Medical School in Greece in recognition of her contributions to teaching & mentorship!

Recent research by our Clinical Director Dr. Cora N. Sternberg was featured in the OncoDaily article "Imaging Scans Detect Prostate Cancer Progression Despite Stable PSA Levels," from July 9th.

Research published in Nature Genetics in June by Dr. Dan Landau was the focus of a WCM Newsroom article "Cancer Evolution Study by EIPM Researcher Reveals Biology of Glioma Progression," on July 10th. 

Research on patient-derived organoids published by a range of EIPM colleagues in ScienceAdvances and in Cell Reports Methods in June was highlighted in a WCM Newsroom article "Tumor Organoid Tech Advances Toward a Sci-Fi Future," on July 20th. This research was recently featured in Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News and Drug Target Review.

A June 30th paper in Leukemia by Drs. Monica Guzman, Giorgio Inghirami, Shahin Rafii, and the Clinical Director of the EIPM Molecular Aging Institute Dr. Pinkal Desai was featured in the WCM Newsroom article "Mapping Human Bone Marrow Yields New Tool, Insights on Blood Cancer" on July 21st. The research was also covered by news articles in Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News and The ASCO Post.

"Which Cancers Are Still More Deadly in Black vs White Patients? The cancer mortality gap between Black and White individuals in the US has narrowed, but disparities in breast, uterine corpus, and prostate cancer specifically have remained wide or gotten worse, according to a new analysis." Medscape, July 29th with EIPM Member Dr. Lisa Newman.

On July 23rd Dr. Neal Lindeman, Vice Chair of Laboratory Medicine and Molecular Pathology in WCM's Pathology and Laboratory Medicine department, gave a great talk during the latest EIPM Precision Medicine Research Conference, entitled "CAP/IASLC/AMP Guidelines for the Molecular Testing of Lung Cancers for Treatment with Targeted Therapies." 

The following EIPM colleagues and outside experts delivered important talks in July!

• WCM Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience Dr. Conor Liston presented an EIPM Precision Medicine AI Working Group talk "Probing and Rescuing Dysfunctional Brain Circuits in Depression," on July 17th. 
• Dr. Niroshana Anandasabapathy delivered a Meyer Cancer Center Physician-Scientist Spotlight Series talk by for Trainees on July 22nd.
• Evan Sholle, MS, a Lecturer in WCM's Population Health Sciences department presented the EIPM AI Clinic talk “Secure Analysis of PHI with Bedrock-Deployed Endpoints in AWS," on July 22nd.
• Dr. Neal Lindeman from the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine presented an EIPM Precision Medicine Research Conference talk entitled "CAP/IASLC/AMP Guidelines for the Molecular Testing of Lung Cancers for Treatment with Targeted Therapies," on July 23rd.
• Drs. Eda Nur Kozan and Jesus Delgado De La Mora from the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine presented a July 30th EIPM Journal Club talk sharing their insight on recent Nature Medicine Lung Cancer articles!

Publications
"LEF1 and niche factors determine T cell stemness across chronic diseases," was published in Cell on July 9th by EIPM Member Dr. Doron Betel and colleagues. The paper was featured in a WCM Newsroom article Rare Stem T Cells May Hold the Key to Fighting Chronic Diseases on July 2nd. 

"Biological aging increases risk of postoperative morbidity and mortality: an international, multi-cohort study," was published in npj Aging on July 4th by Director Olivier Elemento, Ph.D., and EIPM Drs. Joseph R. Scarpa and Jan Krumsiek.

"Intravesical mesothelin-based CAR T cells targeting MUC16 effectively control bladder cancer in preclinical models," was published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine on July 6th by Alyssa Duren-Lubanski, our Chief Research Officer Bishoy Faltas, M.D., Director Olivier Elemento, Ph.D., our Director of Ex Vivo Models Benjamin D. Hopkins, Ph.D., and colleagues.

"A quantitative approach for defining the degradability landscape of protein degraders," was published in Nature Communications on July 13th by EIPM Director Olivier Elemento, Ph.D., and Drs. Lamberto De Boni and Benjamin David Hopkins from the EIPM. Dr. Elemento provides additional context to this research in his LinkedIn post.  

"Temporal and spatial control of phosphatidylinositides using optogenetics ameliorates behavioral deficits in an Alzheimer’s disease mouse model," was published in Communications Biology on July 14th by Dr. Jan Krumsiek and colleagues. 

"Spatial remodeling of bone marrow architecture defines tissue-state signatures of disease activity and therapeutic response in myelodysplastic neoplasms," was published in Leukemia on June 30th by the Clinical Director of the Englander Institute for Precision Medicine's Molecular Aging Institute Dr. Pinkal Desai and Drs. Monica Guzman, Giorgio Inghirami and Shahin Rafii.

"Comparison of whole genome sequencing with clinical targeted panel sequencing of metastatic prostate cancer: insights from real-world data," was published in npj Precision Oncology on July 25th by Dr. Juan Miguel Mosquera from the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the EIPM's Director of Research Pathology; with Pathology & EIPM colleagues Majd Al Assaad, Alissa Semaan, Jesus Delgado-de la Mora, Eda Nur Kozan; and EIPM's David C.
