EIPM and ICB Team Translates AI Benefits to In-Vitro Fertilization

The role of artificial intelligence in precision medicine and patient care is growing rapidly, and has proven successful in analyzing vast amounts of data quickly and accurately.

In addition to advancing cancer research, a team of EIPM and Institute for Computational Biomedicine (ICB) scientists have successfully applied AI to improve embryology and in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Techniques of how deep learning can be used for the evaluation of embryo quality can be found in a recent study, Robust Automated Assessment of Human Blastocyst Quality using Deep Learning.” Authors optimistically note that the “AI-driven approach provides a novel way to assess embryology and uncovers new, potentially personalized strategies to select embryos with an improved likelihood of pregnancy outcome.”
